Job Duties:

Teach all school swimming classes. Liaise with the Swim Teaching Programme Officer in setting up a structured programme of water activities designed to promote physical well being and improved health through swimming. Handle, erect and dismantle relevant equipment and ensure that the equipment is safely and correctly stored. Teach adult and children 'Learn to Swim Classes' as programmed. Instruct /assist with Mother & Toddler Classes, Ante-Natal Classes and with adult and child less-abled swimming groups or those with special needs as required. Deliver 1-1 children and Adult lessons as and when required (teacher will be required to be in the water). Maintain good public relations including responding to enquiries from members of the public/school etc.as required. Adhere to the Council's policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding policies. Undertake such other duties as required which are in keeping with the nature and level of the post.

Qualifications / Experience:

Essential criteria:
A recognised Swimming Teachers Qualification (Level 2 or above).
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work within established procedures and guidelines.
Be Customer and Health & Safety focused.

Desirable criteria:
A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (or equivalent) or a current National Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers/Coaches.

Other Information:

Hours of work (Monday to Saturday) are as follows:
Tuesday 3.15pm - 6.45pm
Friday 3.15pm - 6.45pm
Saturday 8.45am - 12.45pm
Additional hours including evening, weekend and public holiday working may also be required.
