Job Duties:

To work as part of the refuse collection, street cleansing, recycling centre, grounds maintenance and cemetery teams as required throughout the Council area. The post holders will be required to carry out duties such as refuse collection, grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeding, watering, street cleansing, recycling centre duties, cemetery grounds maintenance and labouring.
Provide staff cover at events including setting up and taking down of crowd control barriers, supervising car parking and litter picking.
Drive Council vehicles as and when required and report any defects or damage to the vehicle to the Operations Supervisor.
Other general labouring duties to include work within the Department as required by the Supervisor / Management.
Comply with all relevant legislation including environmental regulations eg ISO 140001.
Ensure that all protective clothing issued is kept clean and neat and in good practical serviceable order.

Qualifications / Experience:

Essential criteria:
Minimum of 6 months previous relevant experience in grounds maintenance, refuse collection or general labouring in an outdoors environment.
Excellent communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
Be Health and Safety focused.
Hold a full and current driving licence (valid in the UK).

Desirable criteria:

Have Driving Licence Categories B&E.
At least 1 year's previous relevant experience in general labouring in an outdoors environment, grounds maintenance or refuse collection.
Previous experience in recycling centre duties.
Experience of using grounds maintenance machinery/equipment ie: lawnmowers, strimmers etc.
Experience of dealing with the public in a customer service capacity.

Various locations throughout - Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Council Depots. Fixed term contract until 30 September 2018 but may be extended. Evening & week-end work may be required.
